(More customer reviews)With big pieces and a whopping three feet at its longest point, this Thomas and Friends My Size Puzzle is perfect for little ones to tackle either on the floor or on a big table with mom and dad.
Forty-six pieces make up this puzzle of Thomas the Tank Engine. All of them are cut into big shapes that small hands can easily hold. In order to put the puzzle together, you have to fit it to Thomas' shape and not a defined square or rectangle border. This might be a bit challenging for younger children, but my three-year-old had very little problems with it.
Overall, this is a wonderful puzzle that will give any child (and their parents) hours of rainy day fun. Highly recommended.

(More customer reviews)As a teacher and a parent, I highly recommend this item. It's perfect for the classroom because it doesn't take up a ton of space, yet it holds twelve puzzles. It's also pretty inexpensive for a storage case, not to mention that the class actually likes to put the puzzles away with this case!
I'm buying one for my house, as well. It has tipped ends that won't scratch my hardwoods, which makes my husband happy, and it means that I can buy a couple of more puzzles because they store so easily, and more puzzles, of course, please my children.

Melissa & Doug See-Inside Alphabet Peg Puzzle Review

(More customer reviews)We like Melissa and Doug puzzles, but this one is a little different. The alphabet pieces are easy to maneouvre, like their other puzzles, but the ideas that they chose to represent each letter are sometimes weird/confusing.

A is for apple, B is for basket, C for carrot, D for duck, E for egg (why is the egg blue? My kid thought it was a balloon), F has a picture of a bird, implying 'feather'. Too off-track for my 2 year old.
Other unusual ones: I is for insect. J is for jumprope, Q is for Quail. T for tie, V for vine, Y for yarn.
Why didn't they choose items that weren't so 'obtuse', like F is for foot, I is for ice cream, Q is for quilt, or 'quack' (duck)T is for toes, V is for vaccuum, Y is for yam/yogurt/yellow...why didn't they hire me? ;)
By the time my kid knows these words himself, he will be too old for the manipulative side of the puzzle.
So, you have to be ready to do the puzzle with your young child, if you are practicing words.

(More customer reviews)I bought both numbers and letters, the idea it is great the problem for me was that when you put for example the number 18 said 19 or if you put the number 8 said 7, I do not want my daughter get confused when she hears one thing for another so I returned them both, need improvement with the sensors.

(More customer reviews)I want to say first that I LOVE Melissa and Doug products. They are very durable and grow with my son developmentally. My problem with this product is that what I received was very clearly NOT a Melissa and Doug puzzle. It very much resembled one until I picked up the puzzle pieces and discovered that they were nothing more than raw wood cut-outs w/ stickers on top! There was not one drop of paint on the pieces! The board was nicely painted and has the Melissa & Doug 'logo' on it like the others that I have, so I am not sure at all what went wrong w/ the pieces.

I didn't realize only a small section of each animal (only one leg) would be the piece (I thought it was going to be the whole body of each animal, U-shaped), but this is still a great puzzle and my 1-year-old daughter likes to play with it. Eventually she'll learn to match the animals up with the pieces/colors. I really enjoy the artwork of this series of puzzles.

Because the pictures under the pieces don't match the piece he really has to think about where each piece goes. It helps him now that he's 3 to identify the numbers and count items to figure out where they go, rather than just looking at the shapes.
