Thomas & Friends Wooden Railway - Switch T-Track Review

(More customer reviews)Since I can't buy Thomas the Train through Amazon outside of the U.S., I'm forced to buy this toy locally. It cost an additional 70% over the amazon price, however it was worth it. The major disappointment came when I opened the box and found out that for the high price, I only received one unit. This was a disappointment since I already had a great track layout in mind which required two and the store only had one in stock. Of course it was my fault for not reading more carefully. In fact, the box labelled 2x the other piece and 1x for the T.
At the moment, we only have 2 Thomas engines which are both battery powered and we have a single Brio engine which is a light and sound toy. I don't typically like Brio trains since the Thomas Trains are of much higher quality. When running the Thomas the Train battery powered engines on this track, entering from the stem of the T, the trains would simply drive straight forward without turning. This means the train goes straight off the table. I would have imagined that they would have tested this.
Also, the turn is so sharp that the battery powered trains can hardly make it, even when pushing manually on the battery powered trains, they tend to slide out of the track.
So my son plays a lot with the Brio train on this track section instead. I'll have to go out and buy James without batteries today I think.

Melissa & Doug Deluxe Pound and Roll Tower Review

(More customer reviews)I bought this for my son who is five and has Down syndrome, so I'm not always sure which developmental age is best for him. He likes to name the colors and has figured out how to best attack the balls to get them through the openings. The openings are narrow enough to require a little work, but are not so narrow as to be frustrating. The balls make a clicking sound that seem to be pleasing to a little boy. There isn't anything to contain the balls once they roll out so I usually put it in a shallow container or box lid so that the balls don't all end up under the furniture.

(More customer reviews)This is a really fun toy for kids ages 3-6 that requires some thinking. While many 1-2 year olds enjoy putting the mail in the box, it can be frustrating for these toddlers. The wooden letters are of different thicknesses, and with the wooden stamps attached (by velcro), the letters must not only be put into the correct slot, but they must also be oriented the correct way to get them into the slot (see the close-up picture). The wooden key that opens the box is big (so it hopefully won't get misplaced), but ours is difficult to turn at times. There is another door that opens without a key. The only bad thing I see is that the brightly painted wooden mail, gets knicked up when it bangs together going into the mailbox.

(More customer reviews)This "Thomas the Train with a light and a button" was ALL my 4 year old son wanted for Christmas, and it was the only thing he managed to ask Santa for. Christmas morning it was in his stocking, but he (and I) were HUGELY disappointed that the lights and sounds stopped working within 24 hours. My husband replaced the battery in it (one of the stranger, harder to find batteries out there), and it made a little gurgling noise for about 15 seconds, before dying completely. I might have chalked this up to an unlucky experience, if it weren't for the fact that the "lights and sounds" James we also got did the same thing within a week. We love the Thomas line on the whole, but this train is NOT a reliable engine, and honestly broke my little boy's heart. Avoid it!

When I got the puzzle I was very disappointed to find that the puzzle pieces are MDF board, not wood or even plywood, and the puzzle board was MDF and plywood. Additionally they were not painted at all but had paper stickers that immediately started tearing off.

Although my daughter can't always get the pieces back, she is learning the dexterity skills she needs! It holds up well to teething, although the wood is soft enough to show indentations over time. Thomas And Friends Wooden Railway - Max And Monty the Dump Trucks Review

(More customer reviews)Max and Monty are featured on the DVD "On Site with Thomas" and are seen in almost every story so they are a great gift! We were slightly disappointed with the lack of actual wood used, that may have affected the durability. The back pops out rather quickly but it is not too difficult to put back. The toy tends to be fun anyway since there is a magnet positioned on the back of the passenger seat. Thus making Max and Monty great transporters for smaller engines and trucks like Thomas and Percy. The back loader is very easy to move back and forth but it does not last too long so eventually we just took it out and are 3 year old had just as much fun without it.

(More customer reviews)I got this toy for my son because he really enjoys his wooden ring stacker and thought he would also like this. However he doesn't seem to find this as fun or interesting. We have other wooden toys and I just don't think this one was well designed.
CONS
-the middle and top pieces only fit in one direction and can be frustrating to little ones.
-the animal heads that are part of the top piece make it difficult to restack properly and is ackward for little hands.
-few pieces for such a large toy.
PROS
-cute and made of wood.
I would suggest getting a wooden stacking train instead of this toy.

(More customer reviews)We have several Melissa and Doug chunky puzzles that my son loves, so we ordered this one to add to the collection. Sadly, this particular puzzle (and the dinosaur one) are not the same quality as other puzzles in the series. The older chunky puzzles have an image painted on each piece. Even the back and sides of each piece are painted in primary colors. The newer chunky puzzles are pressed wood cut outs with raw (and somewhat rough) edges and backsides with decals stuck on the front. My son is still teething and sticks everything in his mouth. Within five minutes of opening this puzzle the decals are already coming off. For a product that is supposedly hand made, it is shoddy. Be warned, this is not like the older version of this puzzle!

However, just a month of use (and this is not even daily use) and the chairs are all falling apart, the table is so wobbly that I had to take it to a storage area today as I was afraid they would get hurt on it, and one of the chairs is splitting on the side. I know that things can loosen up over time, but this is far from what I would consider to be acceptable. My son is 2 1/2, his playmate is 2. Adults are not sitting on these. It just seems like poor construction, we have tightened these up a few times already, but last night seeing the state of these was shocking. I wish now that I had spent the extra money to buy a better set. I believe this will be in the trash in less than a month.I am adding to my review as now one of the chairs has completely broken. I called the company, Tot Tutors, and there was not even a person to speak with, just an answering machine. I left my name and number along with the issue we have had and have not received a call back. My first call was over a week ago, and my second call was today. I am so disappointed in this product and company, I will never purchase another Tot Tutor product. Total waste of money, would NEVER recommend this to anyone.

We are big fans of this toy company, so far all the sets we have purchased have been durable and well made, my daughter loved her alphabet puzzle with sound from last year, it still works great and looks brand new.
We got around to opening this set today, and she was all excited, and started to spell out several boards at once...then I discovered the problem, there were no letter "e" in the box, or "a"...only one each of the "d" and "o" letters. So being a long time purchaser of their products, called the number listed on the sticker on the back, and immediately was connected with a LIVE human being, no computer nonsense telling me to press 1 then press 2...that alone was amazing, lol...and the woman I spoke with took all the info quickly, and then without any hesitation told me a new set would be out to my daughter today...no asking me to return the defective set, she was quick, efficent, and very pleasant. This one problem with the set would not have turned me off to their toys, but with such quality customer service I am an even bigger fan than ever of this toy company...

Plan Toy Baby Walker Review

(More customer reviews)This is a good walker for babies who have strong balance already and who are very close to walking or already walking. Otherwise the bar being in the back can cause it to flip back when baby puts too much weight on the bar. The walker does not turn w/out tilting it back and using the rear wheels, so I have to help my baby turn it. The product makers needed to include two screw end cap things (don't know what they're called) that are set inside the wood in order to rotate the bar to the lower height.
I think it is actually helping my baby to develop the right muscles for walking, unlike what they say about the round walkers (the kind that surround the baby). I like that it has a knob to tighten so the walker slows down.

It's bright and pretty to look at, better than those big plastic things. The blocks are of good quality.
My baby likes it !

The puzzle pieces are small and when fully assembled, each puzzle is small. The puzzles are made of wood and the storage box is made of wood. It is very durable and doesn't take up much room to store. My daughter enjoys playing with the puzzles, but she does need some help putting them together. If you don't mind assisting your child with putting the puzzles together, I would recommend buying this item. Otherwise, wait until they are at least 5 years old so that they can put the puzzles together all by themselves.
