Sprig Toys Adventures Dolphin Adventure Playset Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)I couldn't wait to give this boat to my 16 months old, because this boat looked so nice and fun to play with. Love the way it's made and that it is from recycled materials. Unfortunately because the bottom part is made of two different pieces (the hull in blue and the "floor boards" in brown) it has a gap in between that allowes water to seep in very quickly. If you gently place it on the water surface it is ok, but if you have an excited little guy push it into the water even a little bit, it takes on water very quickly and sinks to the bottom. First thing my son does when he gets in the tup is push down on it, and once it sinks he is not interested in the boat anymore. Maybe it is due to his age, perhaps he will be able to play with it better when he gets older, but I still think that for a boat made for small children it really shouldn't sink, especially not at that price! Another concern then is that mold can build up in between the layers which usually is the ultimate reason for me not to buy certain bath toys. Perhaps I will try to smear caulking into the space between layers to seal them together. Had I known this beforehand I wouldn't have purchased this product.

Gazillion Bubble Machine Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)We've had a number of Gazillion bubble machines.
The first - this one, with an upright rotating set of bubble wands - worked relatively well, but stopped working after maybe a dozen uses. (Granted, one of those uses was for a few hours). When the level of liquid is low, the machine stops making bubbles since it has to pick up enough liquid to cover the wand.
We replaced it the next year with the Typhoon machine - this was awesome, produced a huge quantity of bubbles and worked more reliably since the bubble liquid is sucked up and put on the wands, no matter how low the supply of liquid. It has a large reservoir at the bottom so you don't need to fill it very often - it takes a lot of liquid though.
Our issue now is getting the liquid. Gazillion liquid does produce the best bubbles - they last well, etc. etc. etc. HOWEVER, very few stores stock the liquid, and except for when I first bought the first machine, no-one stocks large size bottles. Even the online vendors like toys.com who are supposed to have them, never have them in stock (I've been on their notify list for a long time!) I've ended up buying from someone in Canada on eBay - otherwise, buying the smaller bottles at ToysRUs, Target, etc. is just too expensive.
Both of these machines don't really work if you try other bubble liquids - other liquids (especially the cheaper kinds in very large size bottles) are much thinner and the liquid drips right off the wands before it has a chance to pass by the blower part to make any bubbles.
We're planning to start making our own bubble liquid and hopefully that will cover us. Otherwise, the machines are useless now.

Melissa and Doug Sunny Patch Clicker Crab Pail and Shovel Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)I love the line of beach toys. This pail is made of heavy plastic and is very strong and sturdy. I originally purchased it to serve as an ice bucket at my son's beach themed first birthday. We have since used it at the beach. Unlike the inexpensive plastic pails sold at beach stores, this one will last for years to come. I plan on purchasing more toys from this line.

Melissa & Doug Sunny Patch Seaside Sidekicks Sand Cookie Set Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)This sand set is really cute, but it's really hard to use! The cookie cutters are open on the top, so you have to shake the sand off around them without turning them over like a normal sand mold. It is nearly impossible to pick the cookies up (in the mold or out) with the spatula without messing them up. The bag also does not hold all of the pieces. It's a cute idea but not very practical for any young child -- or adult in my case!

Melissa & Doug Sunny Patch Seaside Sidekicks Sand Baking Set Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)This is a great product. We pretend to cook at the beach with this. My daughter loves to make soup so this is great. It is nice to have something to play with at the beach besides just a shovel and bucket. The product looks exactly as pictured. The cover doesn't really fit on very tight but it doesn't really matter for what we do.

Melissa and Doug Sunny Patch Speck Seahorse Sand Ice Cream Set Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)I love the concept of this toy. It comes with two different ice cream scoops, one for a swirly ice cream and the other for a straight scoop. The seahorse scoopers are easy for little hands to grasp. What sold me was the sand shaker which is a creative way to contain sand so my daughter can't throw it as she usually does. I like that the lid also serves as a seashell mold but was not overally impressed by the quality of the product. The sand bucket seemed sturdy enough but flimsy compared to Green Toys' sand bucket set. Also, the lid doesn't fit very tightly on the bucket and comes off quite easily spilling the contents. This is especially annoying when this set is in the trunk of our car and a simple turn of the car can loosen the lid and spill the contents all over the back of the trunk. Overall, this is a great concept and I don't regret the purchase.

Melissa & Doug Happy Giddy Picnic Basket Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)I have 3 nieces under the age of 6 and they are always looking for something to do when they come over. One time, one of them got out my "adult" picnic basket and utensils and played for hours so I searched for a kids version of a picnic basket. They love this! It is the first thing they look for when coming over to my house and it keeps them occupied for hours! The dishes are hard plastic and not cheap looking at all, and there is room in the picnic basket for extas.
