(More customer reviews)Our son had to have surgery, obviously it was very stressful, and I tried to think of a lot of different things to get him through the recovery process. This championship wrestling belt was one of them. I made a big deal of the presentation, walking into the hospital room with it over my head and in my best announcer-tones awarded him the championship belt for being so brave and strong. His smile lit up the room, and he proudly showed it to every single person that came in (nurses, cleaning staff, etc).
Under normal circumstances, this little wrestling championship belt would have been fun to give to a child and fun for them to play with. But under difficult circumstances, for anything tough that a child has to face, awarding a belt like this can be just the boost that a little fella needs to FEEL strong and brave.
And, it worked out so well with our own child that we've presented the belt at other times when a child in our live has been going through a difficult time, whether it's surgery, the first dentist appointment, blood work, or even getting through the first night without wetting the bed!
Now, on a completely different note, the belt is tons of fun when there are fun little wrestling matches going on, and we make a big fuss over the presentation, walking around and gloating with it, and then having the belt be "on the line" for the next big match. Those are lots more fun, obviously, than awarding it for surgery, but not nearly as meaningful and memorable.
Also, writing this review gave me an idea for a friend that is about to start chemo....I know she is sick of the coffee mugs and candles that well-intentioned people have given her. I think I'll pick up one of these little belts for after her first chemo. I think it will make her smile and give her a little boost. Just sharing an idea.
Hope this review gives someone some supportive ideas on how to help someone else. :D
