We bought this for my daughter(3 years) and I thought it was adorable. She was thrilled to get it as well. Unfortunately this toy did not stand up in our house. She enjoyed playing with it initially, but things began to break off, or fall off and not go back on,etc. There are four long plastic tendrils that spin around and hold the fairies. Very cute, but I also have an almost two year old and between him and my 3 year old girl those plastic thingies snapped off. Alot. Great thing was that they easily snapped right back into place...for awhile. After a (short)while the snap in ends were bent enough to where they just did not go back in correctly, or the ends just plain snapped off.
As another reviewer said, there are little leaves that go into notches on the tree. Very cute. Very nice thought, but they are now all over my house. They just don't stay where they are supposed to. The kids have a hard time working the door on the little teapot house, so I was constantly snapping it back on for them. The fairies don't really 'sit' in the little swing on the tree....Oh, and the fairies! Yes, it would have been nice to have a couple more included for the price we paid, but almost immediately the fairies began to break apart! This was the thing I REALLY didn't like. We had also bought some separately (since there were so few in the box) They would crack at the crotch and be legless, or the legs/arms would crack off. These things were a HUGE disappointment. As I am writing this, I must add that my kids are not rough players. They don't intentionally break things/rip arms off, etc. They are pretty gentle with toys in general. The play I am refering to is normal 'wear' play, where I think these toys should absolutely at the least be able to stay together through. Especially for the friggen price!!
I think the toy in general is a really cute idea, and I love the whole idea of it, so much that I actually feel bad writing a bad review about it! But, it really just didn't hold up under the most usual of play, and I certainly am not happy about the little fairies breaking apart almost immediately. Those little ladies are expensive! I now have them in baggies, ready for when I contact the company about it. Hopefully I will get a good response from them. Maybe they will come out with a more sturdy version sometime soon, but unfortunately, I would not recommend this to anyone, and had I known what I know now, I would not have spent my money on it at all. I only really gave it three stars over all because I WANTED it to be a nice toy, and I think it's a cute idea!! Hope this helps!
